Supporters of the pro-life movie Unplanned were thrilled this weekend with the news that the polemical abortion flick had a HUGE win despite a controversial R-rating, a media blackout, and Twitter persecution that doesn’t seem to end (as of the writing of this article on Monday).
Yet despite all of the overwhelming odds against it, Unplanned had a massive weekend that surprised everyone.
As reported by Christian Newswire:
LOS ANGELES, March 31, 2019 /Christian Newswire/ — The controversial abortion biopic UNPLANNED overperformed its pre-release projections to become the #5 movie at the box office this weekend. The film took in an estimated $6,110,000 or a cumulative per-screen average of $5,770 on only 1,059 locations across the country. The film received a rare A+ CinemaScore.
It’s hard to argue with those kind of statistics.
Even those who refer to the movie as “anti-abortion” instead of “pro-life” couldn’t deny the miraculous box office win:

Did you see that? They DOUBLED their expectations. That means in their opening weekend, they have already paid for the movie’s 6 million dollar budget!
This hard-fought win hasn’t come easy, though. There was tremendous push back from major media streams that didn’t want to accept the advertising money for a pro-life film. Todd Starnes reported:
The Mainstream Media has also been complicit in refusing to promote the pro-life movie. A number of television networks refused to broadcast paid commercials.
According to the Hollywood Reporter Lifetime, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, Food Network, Cooking Channel, The Travel Channel and NBC Universal rejected advertisements due to the “sensitive nature of the film.”
“We were looking to spend money, but they didn’t want to get involved,” Unplanned producer John Sullivan, told Hollywood Reporter.
And then there was the MPAA rating of “R” which makes it necessary that every teen must see the film with a parent, although they can experience the true horror of an abortion without a parent. Mike Lindell, owner and CEO of MyPillow, sounded off on this issue during an interview with Fox News:
“I feel the fix is in. Whoever rated this movie must not be watching TV or videos on social media! I have a cameo in this movie and do not appreciate the R-rating. I got involved to get a message out to everyone with this true story. What a shame that some might be blocked by an R-rating from getting the truth. I hope millions of Americans will ignore this attempt at moviegoer suppression and flood the box office on opening day.”
And then there was the incessant Twitter oppression that never seems to end.
As reported by The Daily Wire:
The continued problems with the movie’s Twitter account come after it was mysteriously banned on Saturday and was only reinstated later in the day after widespread outrage. Twitter did not provide details on why the account was suspended.
Late on Sunday, thousands of people noted that every time they tried to follow the movie’s account that their Twitter accounts automatically unfollowed the account moments later. The Daily Wire experienced the same problem when it tried to follow the account and did not experience the same problem when following multiple other accounts at the same time.
As of Monday, the Twitter drama was still occurring. Consider the outrage of Abby Johnson, author of the book Unplanned, on which the movie is based. Is it fair that even SHE cannot follow her own movie on Twitter?

What a joke! But the more the liberal leftists try to hold her down, the more they give rise to her movement.
As of the writing of this article, Unplanned had an almost unprecedented audience score of 94% (meaning that the people who actually SAW the movie, not just those trying to give it bad props without having to purchase a ticket).
That’s a pretty amazing thing when you compare it to the top three finishers like Dumbo which had 60%, Us at 70%, and Captain Marvel at 60%.
